At a time when COVID-19 was rising to its peak here, I was up in the middle of the night, sitting at my computer writing. Just after 2am I decided to take a break and wander outside.
I live in a rural area and so when I walked outside it was incredibly peaceful, quiet and serene; a stunning contrast to the mood of the wider world. There was not a breath of wind. I was sitting on a garden bench just by my front window with my head bowed, wondering what the future might hold. After a few minutes I leant back and looked up and, through the branches of a tree, I saw a perfect lace moon sitting in its bed of stars. The idea for writing a song about the Simple Things came drifting in and I started to write some lyrics. The next morning I contacted Glyn and the song began to take shape.
